No racism exists in PA says AG Corbett

New Vision Organization, Inc. is a nonprofit organization advocating for the incarcerated and soon to be released men, women and youth, nationwide. We network with a multitude of prisoner advocates across the country and we attempt to protect them from violations of any sort.

There has been a slew of prisoners who have died in the PA Prison system in the past year and advocates nationwide, are outraged with the fact that, in spite of numerous complaints to the Office of Attorney General, State Representatives, U.S. Dept.of Justice and others, nothing has been done.

There have been numerous suspicious deaths in many of the prisons throughout PA and in only a short period of time. Last year between June and October, 2007, there were three suicides and seven attempted suicides in a 32 cell unit at SCI-Smithfield. Two rallies were held by advocates calling for an investigation into the PA Dept. of Corrections, to no avail. We need assistance in assuring an investigation occurs before anymore lives are lost. Another advocate from Illinois, found this site and circulated it to advocates who need your help in this matter.

Another advocate for the elimination of prison abuses sent the below information around to us all:

5 women have died in Lancaster County Prison since November 2007. Three died in the prison. Two died within 2 weeks of release. In 2006 there was a suicide at Lancaster County Prison.

I would request that we have a demonstration at the Crime Summit - seeing how we are not invited.

We need help in getting this all out to the public. The suicides and other suspicious deaths are escalating and occurring nationwide because NO ONE is being held accountable for their actions within the penal system.
