We now have a webcam of Mother Earth hemorrhaging after being plundered and raped. Oil, ancient dinosaur blood, is spouting like BP has hit a jugular. Gaia has been crying for decades about being despoiled.

There are 1305 Superfund sites. NONE of them has been "cleaned-up." We do not have the funding to clean up these existing messes. Yet, Obama's administration has gone full bore into drilling in risky, sensitive areas. Are we supposed to applaud an administration with such a lack of environmental conscience? Secretary Salazar should be prosecuted. He knew that the BP project was risky; and that MMS was corrupt. Yet, the Administration gave it a green light.

Nothing that occurred during the previous three Administrations even comes close to the current devastation.

It does not matter at ALL about the "response." The Gulf is ruined. The Gulf is DEAD. 11 workers are DEAD. This could all have been prevented. It cannot be brought back to life!

I am happy that President Obama seems to have a good team and the manpower in place NOW. It just seems well over two years late. If they knew there were severe problems in MMS in 2008, why did he give the go-ahead over the past few months. I am still of the mind that Secretary Salazar should be criminally punished for giving this disaster-in-the-making a green flag.

BP Acknowledges Oil Spill Is Larger Than Previous Estimates

I am horrified by President Obama's complete disregard for the environment. Most Democrats have worked hard for clean air and water throughout the U.S. Instead, this Administration has sold our legacy for pennies. Even all the past Republican presidents who personally profited from oil did not destroy several wildlife refuges; preserved wetlands, endangered species, and numerous ecosystems! $500M for a ten-year study of the Gulf is NOTHING. A single National Cancer Institute annual budget is $35M. And that is only for research and not to help all the people that have lost not just their jobs but an entire way of life! The oceans have already been over-fished and now President Obama has overseen the destruction of oysters, crabs, shrimp and finfish. Our air and water are poisoned. Instead of shifting the energy focus off of oil, the President has continue to give away our environmental heritage. America is still in the process of drilling in Alaska, opening up new land in Alaska for drilling, and the Canadian Tar Sands which is the WORST possible option for North America. The USA was a shining example of "green" for decades. Now, in addition to all the other reasons for the world to hate us, Obama has lost this one pillar that was left standing in the wake of 9/11.

My suggestion is to hold our government accountable for its lax standards of the oil industry. We've known for decades something like this could happen. The emergency preparedness was not there. This is doing much more damage to Americans than blowing up the Towers.
