Senator Sessions says tailpipe emissions are not pollutants
My heart goes out to all those in Alabama effected by this oilspill; however, you have voted in someone that has little grasp of the science of Global Climate Change.
Listening today on the hearing about S.J. Res. 26 Senator Murkowski's cap on BP's liability for the oilspill, and on the EPA and greenhouse gases, U.S. Senator Sessions turns the science of global warming on its head. He says that CO2 is created by people breathing and that plants eat it like food. The EPA is not trying to regulate people breathing!!! The CO2 emissions are from the tailpipe of automobile engines and burning acres of tropical forest. Neither of these are good for people, plants or the climate. Perhaps Senator Sessions should try breathing from a tailpipe before he states that CO2 is not a pollutant. And the toxic fumes that are rolling across Alabama beaches are not natural, they were caused by humans destroying something which they can never restore. People are getting sick.
Senator Sessions goes on to say that in 1997 the U.S. Senate voted 97-0 against the Kyoto Protocol. He labels scientists that put forth the theory of global climate change are "aggressive."
He continues, and says that the EPA would be given the right to regulate every emission of CO2. No, the EPA will not go around citing people, and handing out tickets for breathing. Actually, that sounds like a great action for Greenpeace. They could hand out tickets to Congressmen for polluting the air by breathing.
It gets better. He says that the U.S. Supreme Court "dictate" that CO2 is a pollutant; instead of bowing and scraping to the U.S. Senate. "It shows how dangerous Judges, who are not committed to restraint and responsible action - how dangerous it could be if you give them the power to pass something that Congress would not have passed."
Senator Sessions, if you do not like our government, then go to another county. It is set up this way to HAVE checks and balances - not so the U.S. Senate would be the only rulers of America.
